WORSHIP SERVICES

Every Sunday, services of worship and prayer are held at St Mary Magdalene Church.  Often we celebrate Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist, the Mass or the Lord’s Supper) and once a month we hold Parish Praise, a service for children and adults where all ages are encouraged to take part.  Also monthly, babies and toddlers are very welcome at Children’s Praise – a simple service of songs and fun for little ones.

Services are sometimes held on Sunday evenings too, and during the week on major festivals.  On Wednesday mornings, at 10am, there is a relaxed service of worship and fellowship followed by coffee and a chat.

Sundays
8am Holy Communion
Using the traditional Book of Common Prayer, this is a quiet and reflective service without music. The Elizabethan language of the Prayer Book is rich and beautiful and has been spoken in worship for 500 years. (½ hour)

10am Holy Communion
A modern service with hymns and contemporary worship songs. We break open the word of God in Scripture and teaching and then break the bread together, the Body of Christ. (1 hour)

  Parish Praise
Once a month, we hold our family worship with prayer and praise for all ages. This service does not involve Holy Communion and is more informal. We are joined by members of our Sunday School. Parish Praise is usually held on the 3rd Sunday of the month but this may vary. (1 hour)

Tea and coffee are available after the 10am celebrations.

11.30am Children’s Praise
On the 2nd Sunday of every month, at 11.30am, any young children (with their parents!) are invited to an inter-active service of songs, activities and stories. (½ hour)

See left for services coming up in the next few months, including evenings.

Wednesdays

10am Wednesday Worship
A relaxed and reflective service of either Prayer and Praise or Holy Communion. We share our thoughts and questions about the Bible readings rather than hearing a sermon. Hymns and songs are chosen as the service goes on and we share in coffee and a chat afterwards. (1 hour)
