Infant Baptism & Dedication

We'd be delighted to carry out a baptism or dedication service (often called a thanksgiving service) for your child if you live in the parish or have had a previous child baptised in the parish or you were married in the parish. We hold these services on the second Sunday of the month at 12:45pm with a second service at 1:30pm if the 12:45pm is already booked. For more information about baptism or dedication services please see  https://churchofenglandchristenings.org/for-parents/ or https://churchofenglandchristenings.org/for-parents/thanksgiving-service/

Adult Baptism

As well as children we also do baptism services for adults. You may have been going to church for a while and want to make a more definite commitment in terms of your Christian faith. Baptism is a response to God's love - a desire and a commitment to respond to God's call to follow the example of Jesus Christ. For an adult baptism will sometimes be a part of a confirmation service. It is also a celebration, a time to come together with family and friends; remembering that you are loved by God, are part of a wider community and have a place with God's people.

Confirmation

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus. We run a preparation course before confirmation such as Alpha.
