Weekly Newsletter - 02.03.2024

Our church is committed to making all activities as open and accessible to all.

Statistically flying is the safest way to travel.  At the time of writing there are 1,000s of planes in the sky carrying hordes of people and history tells us that all of those planes will land.  Yet more people are scared of flying than any other form of transport. When you think about it logically you can understand the fear.  We are putting our lives in someone else’s hands in a metal tube 35,000 feet high and crashing wouldn’t be good.  Yet the chances of that happening are tiny.  In the same way fear of death is one of the biggest fears out there.  We fear the physical pain of dying, the fear of the unknown of what lies beyond and the upset of leaving loved ones behind.

Let’s look at some Christian truth for a moment. Paul said “O death, where is thy sting?  O grave, where is thy victory?  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

In other words because of Jesus’ death on the cross the pain of death is gone.  Jesus’ death and resurrection have turned death into a doorway for the believer between this life and the one to come. Paul also says that no one can imagine what lies beyond in heaven and calls us as believers to fix our eyes on things that we can’t see rather than things we can.

So for the believer:

  1. This life is short, heaven is eternal

  2. Jesus’ death and resurrection mean that your place in heaven is secure.

  3. The ending of this life for us all is certain.
